Traces of Warm Light
What does the world look like through the eyes of a painter? This was the underlining inspiration for the A/W 2017 Maiden Noir collection titled ‘ TRACES OF WARM LIGHT’. The collection was influenced by a series of lesser-known photographic works of Cy Twombly. The photographs are treated much like his paintings. The softness in the colors and composition gives a sense of warmth but with glimpses of complementary brights. The collection tries to capture these traces of warmth through shades of muted brown and tans with hues of rich evergreen layered with a variety of shades of burnt rose. The fabrics for the season are a mixture of warm natural wools in loose over size coats paired with lighter typewriter cloth shirting. Vibrant satins are paired with soft velvets. The utilitarian cotton poly blends uniforms sit next to chunky mohair sweaters. Other layers include loose oversized dyed fleece with rich thick wale cord garments.
