Crescent Down Works Pt. 1

For the second release of our special Holiday 2013 collection, we spent some time with the talented folks at Crescent Down Works to create a special Made in USA down shirt jacket and a North by Northwest down vest.

Founded in 1974 by Anne Michelson as a custom order down vest company, Crescent Down Works now produces a complete line of down garments. After graduating from college, Anne began her work life with the well-known American outdoor retailer Eddie Bauer. She was drawn to Eddie Bauer because of her passion and appreciation for the outdoors and their reputation in the industry at the time. Anne still owns and operates CDW with a small team.

Crescent Down Works is one of a handful of USA companies that still make down goose garments. As a natural filling material, goose down is well-known and appreciated for its superior thermal insulating properties and is widely used as an insulated filling material for winter outerwear. CDW uses 700 fill white goose down for garments.

For Maiden Noir’s AW2013 collection, we created two styles with Crescent Down Works. The down shirt jacket comes in solid navy nylon body with a contrast tight knit twill collar and a hunting camo cotton canvas body with a nylon orange contrast collar. The second style is the North by Northwest down vest. It comes in two colorways, a Charcoal version and Olive version of Japanese camo wool with contrasting streak free nylon lining. The collection is now available online at www.maidennoir.com for our Holiday 2013 release.

Stay tuned for part two of our Crescent Down Works feature.
